Eric D. Holland was born in Illinois, growing up in a construction-trades family. During high school, Eric earned varsity letters in three sports (baseball, basketball and golf) and began working construction during summer breaks. Following high school, he attended the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and a minor in Economics. He attended the St. Louis University School of Law, where he was elected to the Law Review. Eric worked his way through college and law school in the construction business, often working overtime with his father and learning the value of hard work and precision. Since his graduation from law school, he has been admitted to the state bars of Illinois, Missouri and Michigan as well as federal courts in Texas and Colorado. He has also been admitted to practice in particular cases in dozens of other states and forums and has led litigation's from coast to coast. He now leads a nationally-recognized law firm based in St. Louis.

Eric limits his practice to railroad and transportation accidents, mass torts, class actions and other complex litigation. He has litigated cases throughout the United States and has obtained a host of record-setting jury verdicts and settlements. In single injury cases, he obtained over 25 multi-million dollar results in the first 20 years of his law practice involving railroad, product liability, and trucking matters. Over the last decade, Eric has developed his firm’s aggregate litigation practice, which has followed the path of his early career. Most recently, he served as Plaintiffs’ counsel where he successfully represented over 200 franchise owners in a business interruption matter that resulted in a multi-million dollar recovery and as co-lead counsel in a banking class action that resulted in a settlement valued at $20 million. His acumen in complex litigation was noted by a judge presiding over one of Eric’s cases, finding that his handling of the case was exemplary and that he had a command of complex litigation that the judge praised. Eric is regularly hired by the country’s seriously injured railroad workers, catastrophic injury victims and their families, as well as a wide variety of other clients including publicly-traded companies, water districts, hospitals, villages, international companies, judges and consumers. He is also approved counsel for a national labor union.

Handling FELA cases throughout the country, the firm has amassed a long list of record setting verdicts and settlements on behalf of rail and maritime workers injured, maimed and killed on the job. Eric continues to actively litigate these cases along with the firm’s FELA practice group including a recent trial where he obtained a verdict in the exact amount he requested from the jury following a zero offer from the railway company. Eric also regularly sponsors and attends union meetings and conventions to educate railroad workers about the law and their rights. Most recently, he served as coordinating counsel for a large regional meeting at which numerous attorneys from across the country presented on a variety of cutting edge, railroad-related legal issues.

Eric is also a leader in the national complex litigation bar. He has been appointed to leadership positions in mass tort and class action litigation's including lead counsel, steering committee and executive committee posts in a variety of state and federal courts across the country often involving pharmaceuticals, banking, financial services, product liability, and consumer cases. He is routinely called upon to speak about complex litigation and the law, having lectured across the country on current issues and developments. Over the last several years, Eric has also appeared numerous times before the Judicial Panel on Multi district Litigation on complex litigation matters. In the large majority of complex litigation's in which he is involved, Eric, either through selection by his peers or at the request of his opponent, participates or leads in the negotiation, mediation and resolution of the cases, drawing on his deep experience in these matters and his successful resolution of complex litigations.

He is an active member of several trial attorney associations including the Academy of Rail Labor Attorneys (ARLA), and also serves on the executive committee of the Railroad Trial Lawyers. He has been elected a “Super Lawyer” since 2006, holds the AV Preeminent rating of Martindale-Hubbell, is a “Top Rated Lawyer” (Mass Torts, Product Liability, and Class Action litigation), and has been a “Top 100 Trial Lawyer” for several years. Eric is also active in the legal community and a variety of other bar associations.
