Achievements in Education

Allan “Chip" Sloan was born in Anderson, South Carolina, on September 23, 1968. He graduated from Sewanee (B.A., 1990), where he was a member of the Order of the Gownsmen. Chip received his law degree from the University of South Carolina Law School (J.D., 1994), where he was a member of the Order of Wig and Robe, a winner of the University of South Carolina Trial Competition in 1994, a member of the ABA Trial Competition Team, and a member of the John Belton O’Neall Inn of Court.


He was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 1994, the Florida Bar in 1995, the United States District Court, District of South Carolina in 1995, and the United States Court of Appeals, Fourth Circuit in 1995.


Areas of Focus

Mr. Sloan is experienced in representing victims of commercial truck accidents and their families in the case of wrongful death. His areas of practice include the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations – Commercial Truck Accident Litigation, personal injury, general negligence, traumatic brain injury, sexual or physical abuse of children claims and commercial litigation. Chip lives in Mount Pleasant with his wife Florence and their three children.

Membership among America’s Top 100 High Stakes Litigators® is meant to identify and highlight thAmerica's Top 100 Logo e accomplishments of the nation’s most skilled litigators in high stakes legal matters. To be considered for selection, an attorney must have litigated (for either plaintiff or defendant) a matter (1) with at least $2,000,000 in alleged damages at stake or (2) with the fate of a business worth at least $2,000,000 at stake (i.e. bet-the-company litigation valued in excess of $2,000,000). These minimum qualifications are required for initial consideration.


Thereafter, only the top 100 qualifying attorneys in each state* will receive this honor and be selected for membership among America’s Top 100 High Stakes Litigators®. Candidates for membership are initially identified through third-party research or peer nominations by other elite attorneys in the community. Miller Dollar Advocate Forum is a member of the Million Dollar and Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum. The Million Dollar Advocates Forum (which includes the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum) was established in 1993. Membership is limited to attorneys who have obtained million and multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements.

Academy of Truck Accident Attorneys is a charter member of the Board of Regents of the Academy of Truck Accident Attorneys. The ATAA recognizes attorneys who have experience and results in handling truck crash cases, provides cutting-edge education and resources to attorneys who handle truck crashes and advocates for legislative and regulatory initiatives that improve highway safety.


Chip was a charter member of the National Advisory Board for the Association of Plaintiff Interstate Trucking Lawyers of America. APITLA is a group of attorneys committed to education and litigation with a goal of eliminating unsafe interstate trucking practices.


The Lawyers Logbook is a member of the Editorial Board for the Lawyers LogBook publication. The Lawyers Logbook is published bi-monthly and contains educational articles for lawyers who litigate cases involving commercial vehicles.
